Gourmet pan-fried polenta

I'm of the opinion that polenta is an under-appreciated food. It's cheap, filling, is a staple food in many cultures, and trendy enough that it turns up in many gourmet restaurant menus. It's versatile in that it can be grilled, baked and pan-fried, and works for breakfast or for dinner. Oh, and it's vegetarian and vegan, too.

This gourmet pan-fried polenta recipe takes full advantage of the power of polenta to meld flavors together. It's made with black olives, sun-dried tomatoes, a generous splash of wine, and balsamic vinegar.

Trust me, you're going to want to make a double batch of this one. Enjoy!

Romantic Valentine's idea: Cook up a gourmet meal!

Browse through this collection of gourmet vegetarian recipes to get inspired to cook up a gourmet meal for your significant other this Valentine's Day. Might I suggest a sun-dried tomato crusted vegetarian "chicken" (pictured below, right) served with a spinach and basil puree. And, of course, something chocolate or at least incredibly elegant for dessert. Perhaps a minted chocolate mousse, all paired, of course, with your partner's favorite wine.

A gourmet Thanksgiving menu

Everyone's favorite vegetarian celebrity chef for the stars, author of The Conscious Cook cookbook and the guy who cooked for Oprah when she tested out a vegan diet, Tal Ronnen, has put together a full all-vegan Thanksgiving menu, including a salad, sides and a gourmet dessert. Lucky for us, he's decided to share so we can indulge ourselves and eat like the Hollywood celebrities that Tal cooks for. Hey, if it's good enough for Oprah....

Gourmet salad ideas

Take inspiration from nature when building a healthy vegetarian salad, and fill it with the best the farmer's market has to offer! Greens such as watercress, arugula or frissee form a textured base for gourmet salads and a nice change from the usual iceberg or romaine blends. Add color, texture and unusual ingredients to make your gourmet salad unexpected and exciting: blueberries, pinenuts, candied pecans, fennel, edamame, or, if you're not vegan, an artisan cheese. And for the final touch, of course, you need a gourmet homemade salad dressing.
